P1 & P2 Christmas Party

Tomorrow is our Christmas Party day!

Our class will split off into two groups for our party.

Children are invited to wear party clothes for this event if they wish!

In the morning, P2s will join with the other P2 class (Miss Mackenzie) for their party. Please can the P2s come to school dressed ready to party and also bring a change of warmer clothes for playing outside at break and lunchtime.

In the afternoon, P1s will join with the other P1 classes (P1A Mrs MacQueen and P1B Mrs Macaulay) for their party. P1 pupils can bring a change of party clothes to school and Miss Shimmield will help the children get ready at lunchtime or they can go home for lunch if they wish, but ready and back at school for 1.30pm.

Miss Shimmield is the lucky one because she gets to party all day! Yipee!

See you tomorrow!

We are looking forward to a very seasonal end to the week with our whole school Christmas lunch on Friday (13th). As a reminder, this year we are also having a Christmas jumper fundraiser on the same day. In exchange for a donation all pupils and adults are invited to come to school wearing a Christmas jumper. All funds raised on our Christmas Jumper Day will go towards the school’s chosen charity for this year – Highland Hospice. Thank you in advance for your support.

Farm to Fork!

Well done to all the boys and girls in P1/2 and P2 for a fantastic assembly today. There have been many positive comments from staff and pupils following your performance. Miss Mackenzie and I are very proud of you all.

Thank you to all the parents and family members who also attended our assembly. We hope you enjoyed it! We are hoping to publish a video of our assembly for those who couldn’t make it. More info to follow!

Assembly and Homework

Dear Parents,

Firstly, I am sorry that some children did not take their homework home today. I was not in class this afternoon and, as a result, there was some confusion! However, they will take the homework home on Monday or if you wish to collect it tomorrow during the Christmas Fayre – I will be about for most of the afternoon! Please come find me.

Furthermore, I have a had a few questions about the class assembly. Please see the the note below (which, for some children, it did not make it home in the bookbags today!) Please spread the word to parents who may not see this blog post.

If you have any questions about either the assembly or homework, please email me at anna.shimmield@highland.gov.uk and I will do my best to get back to you.

P1/2 and P2 Class Assembly

We are presenting a class learning assembly on Monday 2nd Dec. Every class in the school has been given a date to present an area of learning with their buddy class. The hall doors will be open from 2pm with our presentation starting at 2.15pm.

Have a lovely weekend!

Miss Shimmield

Dress Down for Chocolate Day

molblog's avatarMilton of Leys Primary School

Please don’t forget – tomorrow we have our house morning and MOL’s first ever Dress Down for Chocolate Day!

To support the Parent Council Christmas Fayre we are asking that each child brings a small donation of chocolate or sweets for the tombola at the fayre this Saturday.

Funds from Parent Council organised events such as the Christmas Fayre go towards supporting every child at the school in many different ways throughout the year, including at this time of year the Christmas parties for all pupils and gifts for children from nursery-P2.

House captains are busy organising tomorrow’s house morning and pupils can come to school in their own non-uniform clothes and wearing their house colours if they choose.

Thank you in advance for your support – we’re looking forward to seeing everyone dressed down and supporting the Parent Council at the same time. Thank you.

Student Visits

Earlier this term Aneta Lewandowska, a student studying Childhood Practice at Inverness College, started her placement with us in the Primary 1/2 class on a Wednesday and a Thursday. She will be with us two days a week until May. As part of her placement she will be observing our learning in line with the guidance from the SSSC Codes of Practice (2016). She will use a code for children so that children are unidentifiable. If you would prefer for your child’s learning not to be recorded in Aneta’s written observations, please let me know via email.

Thank you,

Miss Shimmield.

MOL Panto – Bah Humbug!

molblog's avatarMilton of Leys Primary School

As we draw closer to December we wanted to let everyone know about our brilliant MOL pantomime – Bah Humbug! This is a fun-filled adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic ‘A Christmas Carol’.

The primary 6 and primary 7 pupils and teachers are working hard rehearsing and preparing for this panto and are excited to perform for the whole school community! In previous years, the tickets have been available for families of pupils performing in the show however this year, although it is only P6 and P7 pupils involved we are opening up the show to the whole school and wider community. Great news – anyone can buy a ticket and come along! 🙂

A letter about tickets will go home with pupils on Monday and can then be ordered during next week. As in previous years, tickets will be sold on a ‘first come first served’ basis, so make…
